Council Tool Pickhead Fire Axe with Wooden Handle

This Council Tool Pickhead Fire Axe is designed with a pick on one end and a cutting bit on the other. Made of forged tool steel, the body of this pickhead axe is fully polished and hand sharpened with a tapered cutting edge.

This firefighter pick axe meets the ANSI Standards by exceeding their required Rc of 45-60 and coming in at Rc 48-55 with a target 1 ¼ inches from the cutting edge. Only the poll and eye walls remain in the same condition the head was forged in. The axe head is seated onto the handle hydraulically, then secured with a wedge made of serrated aluminum. This improves the bite and is lightweight and strong without changing size due to moisture.

The body of the axe is coated with fire engine red enamel with a clear lacquer over the cutting edges, all of which deters rust.

The cutting edge is approximately 5” long. Choose your axe handle length from 14”, 32”, or 36”.
