Council Tool 6lb 36" Fiberglass Handle Forcible Entry Flathead Fire Axe
With a forged 4140 steel head, this Council Tool 6lb Forcible Entry Flathead Fire Axe has a blade with a hand sharpened, tapered wedge that can be used to force a door more easily. Besides acting as a door wedge, the 5” edge with a square poll can also cut, chop, batter, and more. The extended poll offers a healthy counterbalance, while the flat head on the top of this axe lets the tool stand on its own. A slot forged into the head of this axe allows it to easily marry nearly any Halligan tool to create “The Irons”.
While the poll and eye walls of this axe are not hardened, the rest of the axe exceeds the ANSI Standards of a bit hardness of Rc 45-60 at least ½” back from the cutting edge; instead, the target lies 1 ¼” back from the edge and has an Rc of 48-55.
The whole axe is balanced so well that you can lay it flat in an open hand, making it easier to swing and less likely to drop or flutter during that motion. The handle has a design that reduces fatigue and injury while improving this firefighter axe’s overall performance. Jacketed with durable polymer and filled with pultruded structural fiberglass, this handle is painted a bright yellow.
