L.N. Curtis & sons is proud to contribute in many different ways to our customers' important work.

Contribution Programs

Three different contribution programs have been established over the years, all designed to train and educate fire service members and/or their children.

Jay L. Curtis Fellowship Program

Jay Curtis was one of the founding fathers of the Idaho State Fire School and was always a strong supporter of firefighter training in Idaho. He was very instrumental in organizing the first Fire School in Twin Falls way back in 1947. Jay spent many years participating as a vendor, instructor, and sponsoring various events at the school. Jay passed away in 1988; prior to that, Jay never missed the annual State Fire School.

To continue Jay's legacy, L.N. Curtis & sons created the Jay L. Curtis Fellowship Program. This program is a unique opportunity for firefighters from smaller volunteer fire departments throughout the State of Idaho that may have limited funds available for training to send an individual to Idaho State Fire School. Individuals are selected from the three regions of the State of Idaho (Northern, Southwest and Southeast).

Lloyd Ellingson Memorial Fund

L.N. Curtis & sons has established the Lloyd Ellingson Memorial Fund. Lloyd, a long-term employee of our firm, was our first employee who traveled to support the Alaska Fire Service and was instrumental in many different ways in securing our future in the Pacific Northwest.

Lloyd first joined our firm in 1947 as a clerk and progressed on to become the Division Manager in 1955 and a Vice President in 1965. He served in that capacity until his retirement in 1977, after thirty years of service.

The retirement was short-lived, as Lloyd resumed nearly full time "emeritus" service later in 1977 and continued until October 1991 when he passed away.

Lloyd was a fine man and we were privileged to have been associated with him for many years. He was scrupulously honest, radiating integrity in all his dealings. Lloyd was a great leader, who set an outstanding example of fortitude and perseverance to reach his goals in life.

The Lloyd Ellingson Memorial Fund is set aside for support of the Alaska Fire Service.

Curtis Family Scholarship Fund

The Curtis Family Scholarship Fund is dedicated to supporting the Nevada State Fire Service and specifically, The Scholarship Fund of the Nevada State Firefighters Association. Annual contributions are made to the fund by L.N. Curtis & sons in support of education for the children of members of the Nevada State Fire Service.
